National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO)

At the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, I am responsible for managing the Observatory’s social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This involves researching, planning, and curating content for a variety of science-attentive public audiences, often “translating” scientific verbiage into layperson language.

I have grown our follower base by more than 5,000 in just 8 months, including a 14% boost specifically on Instagram. I have also consistently seen an increase in our average engagement rate and reach. At the NRAO, I have been putting a special focus on creating short-form video content (Instagram Reels) which there was little-to-none of before I started.
